Negrense Microbrewery Dumaguete | Craft Beer and Food Experience

Visiting a Local Brewery in Dumaguete

Welcome to my channel. In this video, I visit the Negrense Microbrewery & Food Lab in Dumaguete City to see how their locally crafted beer is served and brewed. This small brewery and bar is hidden inside the city and offers freshly made beer from small kegs stored in a chilled wall fridge. It's a true local experience - simple, honest, and authentic.

As I arrived, the beer pouring process took a while because of high gas pressure and too much foam. The system still needs improvement, but considering it's a small independent setup with few customers, it's understandable. Despite the technical challenges, the atmosphere is calm and friendly, giving visitors a clear view of the brewing process behind the counter.

The Beer - Local 5% Lager

After waiting a few minutes, the beer was finally served - about 400 ml in a European-style glass rather than a full pint. The lager was unfiltered, cloudy with visible hop residue, and carried a nice handcrafted aroma. It's a 5% ABV beer with a slightly sweet and mild taste, smoother than many Asian lagers and better balanced than some popular Indian brands. The texture is refreshing, slightly bitter, and quite pleasant in the tropical heat.

The only downside was that it was a bit too cold and foamy, but overall, it was enjoyable for a small-batch beer. I rated it 5.5 out of 10 - a fair score for a developing local craft brewery that already shows real potential.

Food Pairing and Final Impressions

The visit wouldn't be complete without food. I ordered rice with fried egg and crispy pork belly. The rice was average, the egg perfectly cooked, but the pork was the highlight - crispy meat with surprisingly soft skin, rich in flavor, and ideal with beer. The simple meal paired perfectly with the unfiltered lager, turning the visit into a satisfying and memorable stop.

In a country where real craft beer is still rare, Negrense Microbrewery stands out as a small but promising place. It's a spot worth visiting for anyone traveling through Dumaguete and looking for genuine local brewing done with care and character.
