How to make Thai seafood dipping sauce (Nam Jim นำ้จิ้มซีฟู้ด) Nam Jim (นำ้จิ้มซีฟู้ด) is a very popular sauce in Thailand, which used everywhere for everything. There are a lot of minor variations in this sauce to make it more suitable for different types of food, and now I will tell you about seafood variety of this sauce.

Probably most exotic food with this sauce is alive squids, which are dipped into this sauce and when they “breath in” this sauce – they are ready to eat! This is amazing!

But today I will show you how to prepare this seafood dipping sauce and will try it with lobster. Yes, it go perfectly with already cooked Canadian lobster, which you can buy for a good price.

So, let’s start to do it! It is straight forward!

step-by-step instructions

  1. Ingredients. As I’ve told before, there are a lot of varieties of this sauce and I will show you one of the best for seafood:
    • Lime juice from 3 fruits
    • Fish sauce – 4 tbsp
    • Garlic – 6 cloves
    • Birds eye chilli – 6 fruits
    • Palm or brown sugar – 3 tsp
    • small bunch of coriander stalks. It is better to use roots, but stalks is much easier to find.

  2. Press the juice from 3 lime fruits and add fish sauce.

  3. Roughly chop garlic chilli, and coriander stalks, smash them with mortar into a rough paste, don’t over-doit.

  4. Add this paste and sugar to lime juice and mix it. That's it. Nam Jim sauce is ready. Is that simple?
